Edward Joseph Cavanaugh

West Point, 1946

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Maj. Gen. John C. (Jack) McWhorter, Jr. on November 1, 2000:

On Sunday 9 July 2000, my friend and classmate, Ed Cavanaugh was honored by his hometown, Worcester, MA. A memorial plaque was placed at Foster St. and Worcester Center Blvd to rename the spot "Cavanaugh Square." This to honor a valiant soldier who gave his life for his country in Vietnam. Ed's widow, Terry, and three of his daughters and a grandson attended the ceremony. This honor was well deserved by Ed. He was the epitomy of what a West Pointer, soldier and patriot should be. From the Class of 1946, a heartfelt "Well Done, Ed, Be Thou At Peace!"
