Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Susan Lee Hindman on April 18, 2014:

Dad taught me much to never give up and to never quit. Dad said The Lord's Prayer with me from memory in his last months on the earth and also recited Psalm 23 with me on another occasion when he was lying extremely sick in bed. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the Messiah never gave up who was driven by his great love for humanity and went all the way to the cross of Calvary to suffer and die for our sins and shed his own precious blood and then rose again triumphantly so that we may eternally live with Him in heaven forever. The great classic American hymn of the Church called Grace Greater Than All Our Sin was written by Julia Harriette Johnston (1849-1919) who was the daughter of a Presbyterian minister and served the Lord at the First Presbyterian Church, Peoria, Illinois. This hymn is a gracious reminder of how Jesus Christ saved my Dad and took him to heaven where we shall all see him again in the resurrection!

GRACE GREATER THAN ALL OUR SIN:
Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary's mount outpoured,
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilled.

Refrain

Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin.

Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
Threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold,
Points to the refuge, the mighty cross.

Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin.

Dark is the stain that we cannot hide.
What can we do to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide,
Brighter than snow you may be today.

Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin.

Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
You that are longing to see His face,
Will you this moment His grace receive?

Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin.

Isaiah 1:18 says, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

Hebrews 2:10 says, For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

I John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Titus 3:4-7 says, But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Galatians 2:16 says, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

John 1:17 says, For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

II Corinthians 12:9 says, And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior says in Matthew 6:9-13, "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

God bless us all abundantly on this Sunday, Resurrection Day! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

With much love in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
