| As a fellow A-1 company mate of Phil's for four years, I, like others in our company, knew he was destined for great success, whether in or outside the military. We all looked up to Phil, and felt great pride when he was later appointed Commandant at the academy. Regardless of rank, Phil was always approachable, interested in our careers, and fun to be with. Most memorable to us was our 40th Class reunion at West Point, conceived by Phil and spouse Mary so we could commute to functions on shore while anchored in the Hudson. Phil was a great leader, and a true friend to all of us! |
