Philip Robert Feir

West Point, 1949

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Ord on July 22, 2011:

General Feir was a huge positive influence in my life from my cadet days at West Point where he was a dynamic, caring "juice P" (what cadet will ever forget "the only thing you have to fear is feir itself?"); to Hawaii and the 25th Inf Div when he was the 3rd Brigade S-1 and mentored me as the 2/35 Inf S-1; to Vietnam where as the Commander of the 2/35 Inf in the Central HighlandsLTC Feir was the ideal combat commander for us rifle company commanders (see Frank Brennan's Eulogy); and then to the 7th Infantry Division at Ft Ord where as the Commanding General MG Feir brought me in as the Division G-3 and continued to mentor and coach his commanders and staff through personal example, adherence to professional and personal standards, and good humor (see Scott Smith's Eulogy). Throughout his military career, General Phil Feir demonstrated great sensitivity for people, commitment to excellence, and the perfect balance of the courage to command and the compassion to understand.

God Bless You, Sir.
See you on the objective.
