Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Colonel (Ret.) Joel H. Ward on January 6, 2008:

I had the honor to a member of the staff of General Forrest while he was DCINC, USAREUR in 1983. He was a caring but demanding leader. I most favorably remember the trip he and I made to the eastern Mediterranean to visit Italy, Greece and Turkey to visit the U. S. Defense missile sites. We flew by executive jet on the long legs and by helicopter on the short ones. That meant we saw these countries at a low hover. As we did, he took the time to explain the history of the particular location. WOW!!! What an education! I will always remember this and most importantly, Jack Forrest.

My wife, Sue, remembers how wonderful the Forrests were to invite us into their home and how wonderful his wife, Patricia, was to be so caring and hospitable.

He is deeply missed.
