Eugene Marder Eugene Marder, 69, of Arlington, VA, died May 20. Born in Philadelphia, he lived in East Orange before moving to Virginia in 1969. Mr. Marder served in the United States Army for 25 years. He retired in 1969 from the Pentagon, where he was a management adviser and acting chief of the management, education and training division in the office of the Army comptroller. After serving in World War II, he was graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, in 1949, where he taught leadership and psychology courses from 1960 to 1964. He served for one year in the Air Force, and then rejoined the Army, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and two Army commendation medals. Later, he was a real estate broker in Northern Virginia for Holley Realty, Hanlon Associates and Re/Max Properties of Distinction. He taught real estate courses in the Arlington adult education program for 20 years. He was graduated from Ohio State University, where he received a master's degree in business, and from the Command and General Staff College. He also contributed to the textbook. Leadership in the Service. He was treasurer of Temple Rodef Shalom in Arlington and belonged to die Arlington County Chamber of Commerce, the Retired Officers Association, the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors and its Million Dollar Club, the Optimist Club of Arlington and Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Davies Marder, two sons, Mark Davies Marder of Weston, MA, and Adam Samuel of Falls Church, VA; a daughter, Rachel Heather of Arlington; and four grandchildren. Services were held May 27 in Fort Meyer, VA; burial was at Arlington National Cemetery.
