Be Thou At Peace

Charles N. Bunn

I married Charlie on April 8, 1988. I, too, had West Point ties (uncle, father, brother in law, husband) so we hit it off right away. Our personalities were complimentary and we felt we were so lucky to have met each other in our later years. We enjoyed many of the same things. I liked going to class of 49er gatherings with him. We both enjoyed spending time with his 2 children, Sisine and Charlie Jr. and his 8 grandchildren. Activities with the grandchildren helped keep us "young". Charlie was Uncle Charlie to my relatives and was beloved by all of them. Traveling became a great part of our life in the 90ties....Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Hawaii and many trips in the Mainland. Charlie's special joys were our two dogs, Chausee and Maui. How he loved those dog "children" and spoiled them rotten. We moved to the Villages, an active senior community, in San Jose, CA in 1999. Charlie enjoyed golfing, Sons in Retirement and other activities. Charlie was active up to about a year before his death (2006). Back pain became debilitating and then he suffered a stroke which led to his death. I was in awe of how Charlie handled his last year. He never complained and exhibited all the attributes ingrained in West Pointers. He was a wonderful husband and I was very lucky to have him in my life.
