John Arthur Bender PLACE OF BIRTH: Washington John Bender graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1949. He retired as a U.S. Army Colonel. Silver Star AWARDED FOR ACTIONS DURING Korean War Service: Army Rank: First Lieutenant Division: 1st Cavalry Division GENERAL ORDERS: Headquarters, 1st Cavalry Division, General Orders No. 173 (1951) CITATION: (Citation Needed) - SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant (Infantry) John Arthur Bender, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 16th Reconnaissance Company, 1st Cavalry Division, in Korea. |
