John Arthur Bender PLACE OF BIRTH: Washington John Bender graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1949. He retired as a U.S. Army Colonel. Silver Star AWARDED FOR ACTIONS DURING Vietnam War Service: Army Rank: Colonel Division: 4th Infantry Division GENERAL ORDERS: United States Military Academy Register of Graduates CITATION: (Citation Needed) - SYNOPSIS: Colonel (Infantry) John Arthur Bender, United States Army, was awarded a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as a Battalion Commander, 22d Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, in the Republic of Vietnam, in 1967. |
