Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John R. Hook on January 14, 2015:

Mike and I roomed together in Company G2 for our last three years at West Point. You lived in very close contact in those days and had to depend on one another to a high degree. Mike was the classic " free spirit " --- thought for himself, tried to live his cadet life on his own terms. Not surprisingly his approach occasionally caused him some difficulties with " the system" (both the academic and disciplinary systems). But with characteristic nerve and optimism he always moved through any difficulties with poise and grace. Mike was the perfect roommate : Hard as it might be to imagine, even in that relatively high pressure environment, I cannot recall a single occasion where we had an argument or even a trivial disagreement. That says a great deal about any man in my view. So... I'll just say in ending that I have the greatest admiration and respect for Mike Davis : As a cadet, roommate, army officer, and highly successful businessman after leaving the army. And as a friend I love him. ----- God speed, Mike --- Heaven is richer today.
