I first met 1/LT Ray Eineigl when I was about 15 years old and he was the junior aide to MG (later GEN) Herbert B. Powell at FT Benning. (My father was the G1 and GEN Powell the Chief of Staff of the 75th inf Div in WWII and became the best of friends and we always visited each other.) I had seen Ray after his 45th reunion at West Point, and was worried when we didn't receive our usual Christmas card from him this past year. I know General Powell thought the very best of Ray, and that both he and his wife viewed Ray as the son they never had. Bill Cashin |
