Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Charles Roades on December 8, 2001:

Dan Hutcheson was a very good friend. As a member of the Class behind his, I was in constant amazement at the evenness, the fairness, the quiet resolve he treated all Cadets with. But it was as a member of the Tennis and Squash teams with him that I was privileged to watch a sort of super power at work whenever he stepped onto a tennis or squash court. When Dan took up his racquet, it was though he had uttered a sort of magic word, because everything he did, every shot he made was it's own sort of perfect. However he hit the ball, it was right--just in, just long enough, just high enough to be in. As the years went by, I learned that it just that skill and quiet perfection that he brought to everything he did. every deed or act undertaken. He will be missed for sure, he will be emulated always. Gettem, Hutch!
