| I came to respect Dan, when, I, as a Plebe learning to play Squash Racquets from scratch, benefited from Dan's suggestions and help. Although he was a year ahead of me, and I saw little of him except at Squash and Tennis practices and trips, I considered him to be a good friend. This typified the impression that Dan made on everyone who was fortunate to know him. I would have loved to have crossed paths with Dan after graduation, but that was not to be. Dan, or Rufe, will always be remembered as a true son of West Point, a gentleman, a fierce competitor and a good person. |
