Today is 7 January 2010. I was exchanging e-mail with Gary Moss, also a friend of Vip's and he mentioned giving Vip half a toilet seat for his half-ass support of General Powers during Vip's farewell party on his retirement. There was a lot of other funny stuff too. I was there and that was about the last time I saw Vip except once later in San Antonio... unintentionally we just drifted apart, he and Shirley in SA, and me and my family in Phoenix. So, today, Gary and I decided to try and locate him. Well, you know what happened then. I bought Vip and Shirley's home when they retired, and I certainly remembered that he taught one of my daughters calligraphy, which she still practices today. I want anyone reading this to know that Vip was a true friend, a superb Air Force officer, a true gentleman of outstanding character, and a guy who was just great to be around...and I miss very much at just the thought. To his family, please accept my most heartfelt regret that somehow I allowed us to lose the closeness that we enjoyed during those years, now so long ago, in the halls of the large, funny building in Washington.
