There's never a one of all your dead more bravely died in fray Than he who marches to his fate in Toomebridge town today; True to the last! True to the last, he treads the upwards way, And young Roddy McCorley goes to die on the bridge of Toome today. ~~ Roddy McCorley Dave sang this song within this past year. I had found a piece of paper in which he wrote down the words of this Irish tune, as he said, when he was "on or around a tank somewhere". It was tucked in his Field Logistics Manual (not sure of the actual military title of the manual) which was in his trunk. When I showed him the handwritten note, he broke out in song. He had a pretty good voice and it was good to hear him sing. |
