Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Joe Franklin on June 9, 2005:

Doc and Hilda were together with Dave and Caye Wheeler and Connie and me at MIT for two great years of Grad School. We were among the Army's first graduate nuclear engineers. Whatever we did, we did together, studying during off-duty hours at school, working out lab problems, and all the varied activities that went on with the very tough MIT regimen. After that tour, we went our separate Army ways, but Doc was carved indelibly in our memories for his ever-present good humor and good common sense. Though we never served together again, Doc's strong personality and good humor were lasting memories of a wonderful tour together. I spoke with Doc after learning of his cancer in 2004, and as might be expected he had nothing but positive things to say. I will always carry the greatest respect and affection for Doc: classmate, colleague, and great friend.
