| Although I was born only nine days after Eck and about 70 miles northeast of Mobile, I came to West Point from Georgia (after 5 years at GMA, honor military school) and not from Alabama. However I got to know Eck mainly through his kindness in including me in a couple of flights home arranged by his dad, the CO at Brookley Field. Ensconced in the back end of a noisy goony bird for several hours each way we still found time to exchange growing up tales. Our paths did not cross after graduation but I wil always hold a fond place in head and heart for those trips. |
