WALT CAMPBELL'S MEMORIAL SERVICE

Walt Campbell's memorial service took place Friday, April 28 at 1:00 pm in The Historic Falls Church, located in Falls Church, VA. The original church, established in 1732 and rebuilt in1769 is the oldest remaining church building north of Quantico in Virginia and was filled to capacity with family and church friends.

Walt's family consisted of Mary, his wife of 56 years, their son Reid, his wife and children their daughter Mary Elizabeth Simons and her husband.. Hymns had been picked by Walt, the first being "Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory" and the last was the Armed Forces Hymn. Mary Elizabeth and her husband read a paper written by Walt which summarized his life from childhood to present and described his spiritual journey over the years. The Rev. Nicholas Lubelfeld, Walt and MaryAnn's minister for the past 18 years, conducted the service and held up Walt and his life as a model for others to follow.

After the service, a reception was held in an adjoining portion of the church. Our class was ably represented by John Sloan, Rich Miller and his wife Mary Ann, Bill McCulla and his wife Joan, Durf McJoynt and his wife Barbara and yours truly, Hank Meetze. It was a fitting and uplifting service for our classmate, his family and his friends.

The interment will likely be in June in London, Ohio. Mike Stevenson has volunteered to be the class rep on that end.
