Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Joe Von Holle on June 14, 2010:

Heavenly Father receive your faithful servant.

I worked for Gen Phil O. Bouchard in the mid-1980's, as an Air Force Captain, as part of a special detail to build an education program for 2Lts new to the acquisition world. Even though it was an "additional duty" for myself and the other company grade officers, it was a very important project to Gen Bouchard and he held us accountable for quality and timeliness. I also worked with "Phil" (I had trouble not saying Gen Bouchard) on a couple of church projects later down the road. Again, he was a focused leader and mentor.

In my short association, I learned one thing about Gen Phil Bouchard -- he seemed to have a personal maxim of "see something good and make it better". He seemed to bring out the best in people and projects.

God blessed me with a small glimpse of his life; so I am sure his family feels a great loss as well as immense satisfaction for getting to share so much of his life. God bless and care for you -- the family -- in your sorrow.
