| Bob and I spent four years together in M-1, and he was one of my Platoon Leaders Firstie Year. Sope was the epitome of a "Free Spirit", in the best sense of the term. He couldn't be bothered with the "small stuff", but when the chips were down on something important, you could count on Bob (he excelled at throwing wall lockers down the stairs, too). I always regretted the we never served together, for Sope was a good friend and a true Soldier. May God smile on Bertie and his surviving family, as He smiled on Bob. |
