Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Devereaux on November 19, 2002:

We called him "Dud" in G1, but he was anything but. You could not ask for a better friend.

I remember well the lean early days at Fort Benning when he, Jill, Mary and I settled for a game of bridge or hit the Officer's Club on dollar night. I remember too the more prosperous latter days when our paths would cross and we could manage a dinner out. He was always the same true friend, no matter where or when.

He set an example for all of us serving God, family and country with deeds as well as words. He was a star who deserved his stars. A person who bore fruit in and out of season.
