Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Marguerite Wiegand on December 27, 2002:

My brother--how can I express all my experiences and impressions? I look to West Point's motto of Duty, Honor, and Country. Bob not only loved his vocation/avocation as a soldier, he was married to it--sometimes to the sacrifice of my dear sister-in-law, Jill, and their children. But they accepted and understood his commitment to the defense of our nation and to Liberty. He (and his dad) were the most honorable men I have ever known. Sometimes it was inconvenient to have to live with their honesty and willingness to be be true to their word, but one could always depend upon it. Bob prayed for his country and for his day to day decisions. His love for, and submission to, Jesus took him to a higher plane, making him, an American General, a humble servant of God and of all the people God loves.

My faith in our Nation resides in the fact that our government continues to raise people to authority like my brother. I pray that we will continue to do so.
