Be Thou At Peace

Posted by CHUCK KOTTICH '56 on July 6, 2006:

JERRY AND I WERE AMONG A SMALL GROUP OF INFANTRYMEN ATTENDING THE ARMOR ADVANCE COURSE IN THE EARYLY SIXTIES. SEVERAL OF US DATED DEPENDENT SCHOOL TEACHERS WHILE THERE AND SOME OF US MET OUR FUTURE WIVES. JERRY MET AND MARRIED DOROTHY WHO WAS A GOOD FRIEND OF MARY WARNER-MY FUTURE WIFE. BOTH WERE GREAT FRIENDS TO US AND JERRY WAS AN OUTSTANDING INFANTRY OFFICER. I CROSSED PATHS WITH HIM IN VN WHILE HE WAS COMMANDING A BATTALION IN THE DELTA. I BELIEVE HE WENT ON TO BRIGADE COMMAND AND WE WERE FORTUNATE TO VISIT WITH THEM IN NEW ORLEANS WHEN THE TWO WERE LIVING IN LAFAYETTE, LA. IN THE NINETIES. JERRY WILL BE SORELY MISSED AS HE WAS A SUPERB INDIVIDUAL AND A GREAT AMERICAN
