Regarding the death of John Hotchkiss, Jr. Class 1955, I would like to express my deep sadness and sympathy for this outstanding graduate. I was the President of the West Point Society of Western North Carolina, 1991-1995. John was Treasurer of this organization for many years including the time when I was president. He performed his many duties associated with our growing enrollment of graduates in an exemplary manner consistently year after year. He displayed keen insight in to the many aspects of maintaining accurate records of the Society's funds, devoted many hours to this task, and was very knowledgeable about numerous aspects of the alumni organization in western North Carolina. A recent Academy publication captures John's unwavering abilities as an alum by stating that West Point "stimulates its people and alumni with spirit, courage, and resolution."
