Harvill, Preston Standlee (Stan), Jr. - age 75 of Hermosa Beach, CA passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Little Company of Mary hospital in Torrance, CA.

Stan, a Tennessee native, graduated from West Point in 1955, joined the Air Force and served for 27 years, retiring as a Colonel, during which time he earned a PhD in engineering. He later worked in the Aerospace Division of The Hughes Company and for the past several years was a volunteer with Stephen Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, son Jay and his wife Robin and their son Joshua, and daughter Jennifer Hiravama and husband Lance and their son Preston, all California residents; brothers David J. Harvill of Memphis, Jon P. Harvill of Knoxville, Mary Margaret Harvil O'Neil of Manassas, VA, and Ellen Bebb of Knoxville.

Funeral services will be held at American Martyrs Church of Manhattan Beach, 624 15th Street, Manhattan Beach, CA on September 1, 2009 at 9:30am and he will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors. Guests are also invited to the Military Service at the National Cemetery in Riverside, which will take place following the church service.

At the donor's choice, flowers or a donation to their favorite charity may be made. McCormick Mortuary in Redondo Beach, CA, (310) 792-7580 is handling the arrangements.
