Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Willy Welter on February 14, 2001:

I did not know Hump at West Point, he was from the "other" Regt.
From what I have learned of his life these last few days, the following poem seems to be his message to us all.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamonds glints on snow;
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autum's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the siwft uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die. My spirit lives"

Rest in peace Hump
