Ray and I were roommates for two years and attended BIOC, ranger and airborne schools together. During this period we ran with the same "gang" and had many memorable (and some not so memorable) occasions together. After that our careers took us in different directions and we seldom met albeit the occasional class reunion. Though we seldom met, I, (and to my personal knowledge, a number of classmates) always held Ray in the highest esteem. He was a man you could always depend upon for aid or a kind word. We shared many good times post retirement. Who could ever forget the Gunderson/Drummond road trip when Ray (who could not see) and Bulldog (who could not hear) set out from Virginia heading for the Bill Hadly Ranch in Montana for an F-1 mini. The two of them with a van full of wine for gifts, visited many classmates, spreading joy as they went. I pray that you and Ann are once again side by side. God Bless you, Ray. |
