Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Roy Lynn on March 25, 2010:

REMEBERANCE:It was during yearling year: Jerry came into our room after a hard day at football practice. I could see it was a hard day because he was bleeding from numerous cuts and abrasions on his arms, legs and face; and he looked like he'd been "ridden hard and put away wet". I thought that he had been in some sort of accident.
I asked Jerry "What happened?"
He said "It's Coach Lombardi. He worked the hell out of me today."
I asked "Why? Did you do something wrong? Was he picking on you?"
"No", Jerry said, "the coach treats all of us the same. . . LIKE DOGS".
Jerry was my roommate. We went into the Air Force together. I was there when he married Joan in 1955. He was a good man, and I will miss him. Be thou at peace.
