Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dick Hoeferkamp on February 14, 2013:

Dick and I met on the train in Grand Central Station as it began to steam up the banks of the Hudson on that hot July 2, 1951. We discovered that we were both Hoosiers, and that gave us a lot to talk about that night at the Thayer, where we spent our last night before trudging up the hill into the den of Beasts. Thus began a friendship that continued through our cadet years and in our first assignment in Hawaii, where we both served in the 25th IN DIV. There my wife and I met Dick and Dot in Honolulu and became life long friends, as we hung out on the beaches with our babies. We have fond memories of those times, and will always remember Dick's friendly smile and devotion to the Christian faith. Well done, good and faithful servant of God and country.
