Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Chuck Roades on April 12, 2003:

My friendship with Ski goes back to Prep School days at Stewart Field,NY. It was there that I was really impressed with this great person who had a smile and a hearty greeting for everyone he met. We hit it off right from the first meeting. The Academy years were made more enjoyable, more valuable with the friendship of such a 110% person who did his best at everything he undertook. He learned from that experience and took away all the subtle lessons he learned and turned them into teaching methods to be used in future days as a brilliant coach and officer in the Army. It was a unique pleasure to watch him work with those he coached and to come to the realization that he was that way with he was with everyone he knew. I never encountered Ski in later life that I didn't come away with the feeling that I had been in the presence of a genuinely superb individual. We'll all miss you, Ski, but we will never, ever forget you.
