Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Robert Meisenheimer on March 25, 2009:

Our class has lost an icon. Bill Welter was selfless classmate who gave so much to our class and our activities. Almost everyone knows of willie's singular accomplishments regarding our class' communication and its Internet site. What made this so beneficial, and correspondingly interesting, was -w's ability to inject discipline, order, humor and even-handedness while maintaining a level of integrity probably unique in the annals of group communication on the Internet. His imprint is clearly visible on every activity of class participation: such activities as our class news updates, entertaining reports on the annual ski week, promoting and participating (albeit with only limited success) our football puhls, publicizing reunions, fostering area social events (e.g., SEVA and Washington), and providing a valuable forum for class business and charitable functions. All these, and others that we all recognize, had the now famous "-w" mark. Moreover, Bill was a real man, a loving human being, and a true friend.

We believe, and rightly so, that we are a great class. A big part of that greatness is due to the work, dedication, and leadership of Bill Welter. A good part of the Long Gray Line is in the shadows. That part just got stronger. Be Thou at Peace, Good Friend!
