Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Bob Grassberger on November 29, 2005:

I received news today of Jack Kamm's death from his daughter, Barbie. Jack died yesterday (Monday) in Albuquerque, NM In case you had not heard Jack was diagnosed some time back with Lou Gehrig's disease. He was taking part in test group that was trying a new medicine - half got the medicine and the other half served as a control group. He wasn't told which half he was in. As always, Jack was still upbeat and had high hopes of a miracle - as did we all. He fought all the way!

Alice and Jack were married in the afternoon on graduation day, Diane and I celebrated many anniversaries with Jack and Alice and he took particular delight in referring to us as newly weds (i.e. June 6). We last saw Jack last December when Barbie was awarded her PhD from NM. At that time he was having trouble speaking and swallowing. He subsequently got a machine which he typed into and it would talk for him. Alice, who is a nurse, fed Jack through a tube and took excellent care of him. They were and outstanding couple. Jack was a devout Christian (as is Alice) and I prayed and honestly believed that if anyone deserved a miracle, it was Jack.
He was a good husband, a caring father, a beloved Class Mate, and a dear friend.

Be Thou at Peace, Jack. And may light perpetual shine upon you now and forever!
