| Don Sheehan has truly captured the essence of Jim Shirey's life far better than anything I can say. I was also in D-2 - next door to Jim- and saw him frequently as a Cadet and periodically as we served together in the Army....what I will always remember about Jim were his wonderfully blissful smile and pleasant demeanor - even during periods of stress - from Cadet days when we werer getting reprimanded by LTC (later LTG) Tom Rienzi to Tet Offensive days(1968) when he was a dynamic S-3 of the 14th Engr Bn - always the same unflappable, smiling Jim Shirey. I will never forget him. |
