| As we approach the anniversary of George's passing, I have been reflecting on what George meant to me. He was one of my heroes, because of his service, patriotism and great heart. Although our politics weren't in the same neighborhood, we found common ground upon which to base our friendship. He was proud of his service in the 173d AB, and I was about my service in the 4th (Ivy) Inf. Div. We were in the same area of the Central Highlands, and always had something to share about those experiences. George was one-of-a-kind, and I dearly miss him. |
