I got to know Bill Crites and Narris when I worked with him at R.J. Moore in Annapolis about 15 years ago, and learned to admire him anew. We had a period at the company when the economy wasn't doing very well and we were all working part time, but Bill found other avenues to do some entreprenurial marketing and dragged me into it with him....again showing us another way to get it done. What a guy! During our 45th reunion last year after several of our classmates escorted Bill to the review line for our parade, Pete Verfurth commented to the effect that not one of our classmates looked more superb in full dress uniform than Bill Crites in our First Class year when he was leading his battallion on parade. I think Pete got that right, in spades. Bill was the quintessential image of a cadet leader, a guy I always looked up during our cadet years and later, and recently for his courage and love for his classmates. It's guys like him that make me proud to be a member of '56. Bill always had several ways to get the job done, didn't know the word discourage, never was afraid of hard work, and always showed a genuine interest in those around him. He'll be missed.
