Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Alan Renshaw on September 29, 2004:

Although we were classmates, I never got to know Charlie until my wife and I met Ann Prather at church in Orlando about 1965 when Charlie was in VN. He returned a few months later after his first tour working with a SVN company in the field. I was impressed. Charlie truly believed in his and our country's role in VN and gave a very well received talk to the adult forum at our large church about the war and our country's role, with a few personal anecdotes thrown in. A few years later, in Washington, D.C., I had the extreme good fortune to buy a house about two blocks from Ann and Charlie. Their home became the class haven for parties every couple of months, and one could always drop by for a friendly drink, conversation, and a swim in their pool. It is my belief that Charlie really loved all of the class of '56, and was loved in return. He will be sorely missed at our reunions. Grip hands!
