Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Stan Diez on April 20, 2006:

When I retired from the Army in 1980 I decided to join the local Lions Club in Clifton, VA in order to meet civilians in my community. The first meeting I went to I climbed the stairs of the Clifton Fire Hall and the only person there at the time was classmate Bill Skidmore. After we both recovered from the shock I learned that Bill was still on active duty and was president of Clifton Lions Club. That is where I got to know Bill since, as cadets, he was a flanker and I was a runt and we hadn't served together on active duty. Bill was a true gentleman and a great representative of the Long Gray Line in all he did. It was a priviledge to be around him for those meetings and events we shared together. Thanks Bill.
