Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Pat Haley on June 25, 2013:

John lived life to the fullest. he was always ready to help wherever help was needed. He never complained about the pain that racked his body most of his life. he just pushed on and found ways to help his fellow man. His fight with Rosey Greer in the trenches Plebe Year became legendary. Who can forget looking up into the rafters on Friday night at the Patton House at Benning and seeing Big John in his argyle socks singing his only French song.

We went to Ft Riley from Benning and formed a bond that lasted a lifetime. A more loyal or couragous friend you will not find on this earth. From footall to the Texas cattle drive to Bosnia to help supervise elections are all a part of what defined this great man. To say he was a friend would be an understatement. Like many of our class, there is tremendous sense of loss and an emptyness that can't be filled.

Well done my friend. Be thou at peace.
