Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jess Guaderrama on December 4, 2013:

It was with great sadness and sorrow that I read of the passing of one of the best people that I have ever had the privilege and honor to know.

I first met then Lt. Barlow in 1960 while serving with the 24th Infantry Division in Augsburg Germany. Lt. Barlow was the platoon leader of the Long Range Recognizance Patrol, LRRP. I joined the unit early in 1960 and had the privilege of experiencing the leadership qualities that Lt Barlow was well known for. He earned respect and admiration from the entire unit and all who interacted with him.

I have often spoken of him when referring to that very favorite time of my life.

He will be missed, he was a true gentleman and a leader.
The world is a sadder place without him.

Sgt, E5 Jess Guaderrama, 24th Division LRRP, 1960 - 1963
