Robert Ray Huskinson

West Point, 1958

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Paul Heidenreich on October 30, 2007:

I knew Bob Huskinson for the last 4 years of his life. Bob was a special, facinating man. He spoke often of his time at West Point and always did so with a smile on his face.

Before West Point, Bob went to Yale for a year and did not feel that he fit in. To him West Point was home. Everything that it offered fit into his perception of honor, education, friendship, country and opportunity. He often spoke of his desire to get to the reunions and get togethers but his schedule never quite worked out. Also, in more recent years, health issues slowed him down.

As those who knew him well know, Bob was a Big Game hunter and he was a collector. A collector of hunting trohpies, memories of friends and experiences, and of the finer things in life.
Those of us who worked for and with him miss him dearly. We miss his intelligence, experience, friendship, generousity, his presence, and his story telling.

Bob was truly the most interesting person that I have ever been fortunate enough to get to know and I wish that I could have known him much longer.
