Be Thou At Peace

Posted by James E. Waller on October 25, 2008:

I came to know Bob after the initial trauma of our introduction to our Company G-2 upperclassmen. Bob ably demonstrated the inner spirit of our '58 Plebe class to survive the break-down of self esteem and development of team spirit which was the thrust of the 4th Class System. His self-deprecating humor was an inspiration to others. In our latter years at the Academy, Bob was an inspiration to those who knew him, classmates, and those of upper and under classes. This inspiration came not only from his strong sense of humor, but his inner spiritual strength and his superb intelligence. His success in mastering the art of surviving the adversities at West Point led to his outstanding record of service to our nation - both in the USAF and CIA. Bob, Sally, and his family served as outstanding examples of the West Point family, even long after Bob's retirement. His life continues beyond and also in our memories.
