Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Margaret Erin Easley on November 17, 2013:

Daddy Sweet Daddy. Oh, Pop. I miss you every single day. Still haven't deleted your number from my cell phone - still find myself going to call you just to chat and hear your voice. No one loved life more than you did, Dad. You grabbed any opportunity to mull over the complexities and intricacies of life, the beauty in all it's myriad manifestations.
The last years of your life were the happiest. You finally found the incandescent Pamalams, her grace and elegance elevated all of us, and continues to do so. Mama and I miss you, the boys and I miss you, your grandchildren miss you and speak of you often.
I can still remember seeing the world from atop your shoulders as a child - my favorite place to be. You were larger than life, striding in from work and having all three of us jump on you, screaming with glee. Nothing made us happier - and nothing made you happier. I remember bike rides with you, where you would stop and point out the extraordinary beauty of nature. Recitals, graduations, award ceremonies... you were always there, your handsome visage beaming proudly above a sea of gray faces.
Always ready for laugh, always ready to learn something new, always ready to be inspired and loved. Honorable, noble, wise. Your legacy is your heart - it lives on in your children and grandchildren. We're all a little silly and a lot curious, thanks to you.
Miss you, Daddy. Love you beyond measure. Your photos are everywhere, your memories are everywhere, your laughter is everywhere. On my desk is a card from a screenplay you were writing. In your unique handwriting, it sums up everything for me:

(talked of missing her father scene)
-sun down/looking out at the sea
-see her from the back
"Where are you Daddy"
FADE OUT

Your Loving Daughter
