Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Charles H. Davis IV on April 4, 2007:

Fred and I first crossed paths on opposite sides of the football scrimmage line when he was the star for Frankfurt and I was a so-so player for Wiesbaden in 1949. He went by "Mickey" back in those days. Later, when my father was transferred to Rhein-Main, we became good friends and shared some sleep-overs in Buschlag. Leaving Rhein-Main in 1950, I didn't see Mickey again until Beast Barracks. Mickey had a great personality, and was always a favorite among all the kids in high school. In the "small world" category, my parents would share their last two years of life sitting at the same dinner table in an Assisted Living facility in San Antonio with Mickey's aunt and uncle -- Bobbie and Erwin Remmert. God bless you, Fred.
