Dear Family and Friends of Bill: Bill called me last Monday and asked me to let his on-line friends know he would no longer be posting. He explained the situation and the decisions he had made. I was both honored and touched he would call me. Like his life, Bill met his end on his terms and at his time. Bill has been a unique friend, I have talked with him on the phone, exchanged countless emails, sent him gifts, but we never met face-to-face. I think we first exchanged emails in summer 1997. 17 years of friendship. He posted 4698 messages to West-Point Forum, the last in October 2014. Bill wanted to share his love for West Point, his expertise in the Army and his passion for life and love of fellow Soldiers. As Bill would say "Rangers Lead The Way" Michael McGURK West Point 1985 Airborne Ranger Infantry I posted this just last week: Ranger Schwartz is in the ORP overlooking the final objective. He has gone into hospice care with several life threatening issues. The proverbial straw was a recommendation to amputate one of his legs due to infection. He also has a dialysis issue and renal failure as well. Hanukkah is 16-24 December and Bill does not think he will see it. He may, Rangers are strong and old Rangers are especially tough. He could use your prayers but he asks for no calls or anything special. He is not online and is unable to respond to email.
