Be Thou At Peace

| I fondly recall Bob Vogel as a BOQ-mate (along with Paul Makowski, USMA '58) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, during the fall of 1973. As a fellow member of the Military Equipment Delivery Team Cambodia, I vividly recall his intelligence, generosity, and his enthusiastic willingness to share tips on dental hygiene. Most of all, I remember, when many of us were fearing a long-awaited, Alamo-like, communist rush on us back in Phnom Penh, Bob's calculated venturesomeness that allowed him to combine a required reconnaissance mission into dangerous Khmer-Rhouge-held territory with a quick, cultural drive-by there to Angkor Wat. Hats off to you, Bob! May you RIP. |
