| Major John Alexander "Alex" Hottell was my company commander with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion 8th Cavalry, First Cavalry Division. Major Hottell was an outstanding commander, earning my utmost respect both as a person and as an officer. In 1969 while serving as my company commander, he was the recipient of two Silver Stars. During his leadership, Bravo Company did not suffer any fatalities. In my opinion, this was his best accomplishment and is a fitting tribute to his leadership. |
