Be Thou At Peace

Posted by WILLIAM WOOTEN on May 27, 2011:

Lt Clair Thurston was an outstanding officer. He earned the respect of the unit. I was an 18 yr old communication Sgt in B 1/503. One very dark night I was checking platoon RTOs. As I approached third Platoon I was challenged, The Challenge was Girl ( to which you were to reply with an American girls name) I replied Claire, out of the dark Lt Thurston replied " Alright Sgt Wooten"

As an 18 yr old NCO Lt. Thurston was an inspiration to me. I always look for His name on the wall first and I miss him I was sharing with my son yesterday, I believe had he lived Lt. Thurston would have become a General and a great one.
