We were all shocked and deeply saddened by John's passing. his contribution to our class was monumental. Ever since the last "Ward book" came out my wife Joan has been saying that we (classmates) needed to do something special at our 50th to recognize John's special and singular contribution to our class. John and I both came from Long Island. He from St. Mary's in Manhasset and I from Chaminade H.S. We first met at Mitchell Field AFB (no longer in existence) where our congressman had us take medical and Civil Service screening exams, competing for the appointment. As it turned out we both made it. John got the principle appointment and went on to be a "star man." I got an alternate appointment and was a long way from being a "star man." Rest in peace John. Well done. Your classmate Bill |
