Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Daniel Hornbarger on April 26, 2010:

When I powered up my computer and checked e-mail this morning, I crumbled. It was only two months ago that Bob was doing what I loved about the man, making those of us on the 2010 Class ski trip laugh with his self-deprecating humor and charm. I am in awe of his courage and ability to enjoy and care for those of us on the trip while apparently losing the battle with his affliction. I never would have guessed that his end was so near. I loved Bob and want to thank him for making that annual pilgrimage out West the highlight of my year. He and Cathy always made me feel special as I know they did for all the others on the trip.

My one regret is never having the opportunity to play tennis with Bob. Not only was he a world-class skier and great baseball player but he also managed to develop into a top-notch tennis player. I always marveled at that feat.

My prayers are with Cathy and their family. I will sorely miss Bob, but I'm thankful I got to know the man and enjoy his wonderful friendship.
