I did not know Marty well at West Point, but while I was at Columbia Business School, I was bartending at a very succesful nightclub on the East Side of Manhattan. One evening Marty just dropped in the club on his way back to another Vietnam tour. We reminicised, hung out, and partied for a few nights at the club. We had a great time. I introduced Marty to everyone and he impressed even the most skeptical peacenik with his dedication, his courage, and his love and respect for the Vietnamese he worked with. I was very saddened to hear of his death. The Army lost a real warrior, and a good guy. |
